Leela Travel is a boutique group tour operator that specializes in ecologically responsible yoga retreats. We believe in the Tantric philosophy that moksa, or self-realization, can be both morally good and pleasant, and that our yogic practice can lead us to fully reap the enjoyment out of life. Our name Leela Travel represents this philosophy as "leela" or "lila" is defined as the "spontaneous sport of the Lord" or "divine play." We encourage everyone to adventure with us into nature's bounty - bask in the sun, float in the sea, and open your heart to your own individual creative expression.
Leela Travel is dedicated to encouraging the evolution of Green Yoga by seeking out remote and ecologically sustainable resort partners. We look for resort partners that use local and natural building materials, have clean power sources (solar, wind, hydro), manage their wastewater, and produce organic foods onsite. As responsible yogis we must realize that the health of our bodies, minds and emotions depends on the health of our planet.
We also work with small community organizations in the locations we visit through volunteer programs and a financial donation for each trip. If you would like to work with us as a community organization or a resort partner please contact us.
Whitney Littlewood
Founder and President
Whitney Littlewood is Founder and President of Leela Travel and comes to the business with over 10 years experience in the Internet industry and over 4 years experience as a registered Travel Agent and online marketing specialist for Travelocity.com.
For over 10 years she has been a dedicated yoga teacher and student of Ashtanga, Sivananda and Anusara yoga. Her passion for yoga has taken her around the world, including extended stays in India and Thailand. Whitney lives in Pacifica, California with her husband and daughter.
Adele Sanchez
Co-Founder and Vice-President
Adele Sanchez is Co-Founder and Vice President of Leela Travel. She currently resides in San Francisco but for 7 years, has lived and worked in Thailand, England, Slovenia and China. Her professional experience includes working in the Travel & Tourism industry, IT and running her own Training & Development Consulting Company in Shanghai, China where she also obtained an International Executive MBA. For over 7 years, Adele has spent a great deal of time in SE Asia and India while continuing to develop her yogic practice and explore her world.
